It’s National Running Day on June 1, 2011!
Yep, it’s that time of year when we celebrate running. It doesn’t matter if you run by yourself, with a friend, on a track, at the gym, on a treadmill, or anywhere else – just run!
Running is one of the best ways to stay fit and healthy — and it doesn’t cost anything (except a good pair of comfortable running shoes). Maybe this is the day for you to start running, increase your existing running schedule, or invite a friend to run.
No matter what you do – celebrate National Running Day on June 1.
Here are some ideas you can use:
- Run today!
- Wear running shoes to work and take a run at lunch.
- Encourage a friend to run with you (start out walking – that’s just fine!).
- Take a new running path or route today – and if you run outdoors, try indoors or visa versa.
- Check out your running shoes and see if they need replacing. This is a good day to do it!
- Give to an organization that provides running shoes for kids – it is a gift that will mean more than you know.
- Take your kids with you for a run.
- Reward yourself for being a runner by doing something special just for YOU!
Always drink plenty of water before and after and during your run — replenishing body fluids is essential, especially in this hot weather.
Visit the Running Day website to learn more. And then get ready to run – even if you start out walking, or just run for a short distance, it doesn’t matter. The important thing is to put that first step forward and GO.
Happy running day!
