For more years than I’d like to say, I’ve made sweet tea for my family. It’s a southern tradition and nobody made better southern sweet tea than my mother. Fortunately, I learned how to make it especially delicious by watching her and listening to her tips and secrets — over and over ’cause she made a lot of it.
That’s why it was so intriguing to me to learn that so many Richmonders love to buy sweet tea in restaurants because they can’t duplicate the delicious flavor. Even fast-food giant McDonald’s, which focuses on unhealthy nutrition, is in on the tea brewing activity now.
But it seems that no one can beat McAlister’s sweet tea (or unsweetened tea for that matter!). They’re billing themselves as “Tea Town U.S.A.”! And they’re hosting a FREE Tea Day on July 28, 2011. Once you try their tea, you can vote for them to be the best tea brewer in town by going to www.teatownusa.com.
And now McAlister’s is making it easier for people in Short Pump to enjoy a refreshing, icy glass of iced tea too. Their newest location is opening in Short Pump soon.
Hmmmmmm…….if Starbucks can create a mega-business selling cups of coffee, maybe I should open my “Teabucks” cafe and sell a glass for $4! From what I’ve heard, Richmond moms and Grandmoms might just “buy it”!
Enjoy your FREE tea at McAlister’s on July 28.
