I’m trying to decide if my daughter is losing her mind or not.
First of all, having three children within three weeks of each other is enough to make anyone lose their mind (sorry Kate Hall – you did it too didn’t you!). Of course, they weren’t all born in the same year, but that doesn’t matter once it comes to celebrating birthdays year after year after year.
So, fast forward to 2011. Here we are.
My daughter is planning the first sleep-over ever at her house. Emma turns 9 on July 19 and the big event is scheduled for Friday night, July 15. It all starts with fun at the pool, subs, and games. Then the party moves to the house where there will be ice cream cake, giggles, laughs, movies, games, and chaos for most of the night!
That makes for a long night and a hard Saturday when everyone is tired from the previous night’s party.
But wait…..she doesn’t stop there.
On Saturday morning, Lily turns 2 years old! There will be chocolate chip pancakes, shaky milk and juice to start the day – a family tradition. Imagine the mess in the kitchen after all of this hoorah. And then?
You guessed it.
Off for Lily’s big pool party with pizza, swimming, cake, and 2 year-olds toddling around all over the place with sippy cups, sagging diapers, and sticky hands!
Before it’s all over, it’s time to plan Connor’s big splash for his 7th birthday in three weeks, and they’re off to the races again. Whew – it all makes me tired just thinking about attending all of the festivities. So I’ve decided my daughter is going to lose her mind this weekend — or maybe she already has.
I’ll keep you posted.
love it–we are all crazies! no wonder! I guess that's how we'll earn our stripes to be cool hip grandmas like you. . .who get to escape and go home and leave it all
