Wine Down Wednesday Benefits the Children’s Heart Foundation on August 10, 2011 – Will You Join Us?

Babies diagnosed with congenital heart conditions need your help.

The Children’s Heart Foundationis a non-profit organization focused on bringing health, hope and happiness to children impacted by congenital heart defects, the number one birth defect in the United States. They accomplish this goal by funding the most promising research to advance the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of congenital heart defects.

If your child or someone you know has been diagnosed with congenital heart defect, then The Children’s Heart Foundation is here to help. They offer an array of parental resources, books, newsletters, pictures, and stories to offer hope, information, education, and support for parents. Dealing with the challenges faced by a child with heart defects can be overwhelming and difficult, and The Children’s Heart Foundation makes a huge difference for those seeking help.

According to the CHF website, “only one penny of every dollar donated to the American Heart Association goes towards CHD research.”  In the U.S. alone, a child is born with congenital heart defect every 15 minutes and there are surgeries and procedures every day related to this illness. Unfortunately, there are also deaths related to the condition too.

That leaves a lot of research unfunded and they need help raising awareness and funds. More than 75% of CHFs expenditures go directly to research and education. Advocacy is an important part of CHF and there are simple ways you can help. Click here to learn about advocacy.

Wine Down Wednesday and support CHF

Now there is something you can do right here in Short Pump, Virginia to make a difference too.

Wine Down Wednesday at The Wine Loft on August 10, 2011 is helping raise funds for CHF. Richmondmom.com has designated CHF as one of two non-profit organizations to receive donations collected during the August social event. The other non-profit is Journey 4 A Cure which promotes research for pediatric cancer.

All you have to do is attend, pay $5 at the door, purchase discounted wine, enjoy free food, and socialize with friends and family. This is a monthly event that benefits a different charity each month.
