Do You Say “Merry Christmas” or “Happy Holidays”?

There seems to be a lot of controversy around what we say during the “holidays”. While December 25 is officially Christmas Day, there are those who do not feel comfortable saying or hearing others say “Merry Christmas”. It’s true that there are many other holidays celebrated during December including Hanukkah and Kwanzaa among others.

And then there’s December 16 which is “National Anything Covered in Chocolate Day” (really!) which is one of my favorites.  I would not be offended if someone said “Happy Chocolate Day”! There are actually 31 days celebrated in December for different reasons.

So why can’t we say “Merry Christmas” if that’s a day we celebrate?

Our world is filled with diversity and people who have different beliefs, religions, and ethnic backgrounds and we must all learn to live together and respect each other.

What do you think? We’d like to know.
