Imagine not having a dress to wear to the prom? Imagine not being able to afford to help your son or daughter find the right clothes for a once-in-a-lifetime event with their high school friends.
If you’re looking for a way to make a difference in the life of a young woman or young man, then here’s a fantastic opportunity. Many kids don’t get to go to the prom because they have nothing to wear.
Now all of that is changing, thanks to some local men and women who are making a difference. The 1st Annual Prom Clothing Extravaganza for the 2012 prom is underway to collect clothing for boys and girls in Henrico County. The Hermitage High School PTSA in collaboration with Varina High School PTSA are joining forces to collect gently used clothing suitable for a night at the prom. They’re already collecting clothing for these young people, including dresses, tuxedos, men’s suits, jewelry, accessories, and other items.
Drop-off locations include:
- Hermitage High School Main Office – Care of Coach Rollison
- Varina High School c/o PTSA Bookstore, 7053 Messer Road, Henrico, 23231
- Verizon Wireless Premium Retailer, Suite H, 8191 Brook Road, Richmond, VA 23227
- Rick Galster III, Nationwide Insurance Company, 10150 Staples Mill Road, Glen Allen, VA 23060
There is a drop-off event scheduled on March 31 with details and location to be determined. Visit the website to learn more about this as plans are finalized.
Help make a difference for these kids. They deserve it.
