Fun Ahead: February 6-12

This week is lining up with lots of family-friendly events so don’t miss them. The annual CHIP event with lots of decadent chocolate is this week, along with the first Mother Daughter Tea & Tasting by Green Monkey — and a fun-filled time for kids at Spirited Art, Kidz Connection, and the Cultural Events continue at the Science Museum of Virginia for the weekend. Spirited Art is starting a weekday class - every Wednesday, we will be offering an adult class at 11 a.m.  You’re welcome to bring your own lunch/snacks during this weekday class.  Check out our calendar www.myspiritedart.com.

Lunch Science Break at The Science Museum of Virginia – 8 Feb 2012 – 12:00 on Wednesdays, noon-1 pm. Pack a lunch and join us. Museum scientists and others share easy to understand information on a wide range of science topics. Free.

Special Nights for Special Needs.  5:30pm-7:30pm, Children’s Museum – Central.  The Children’s Museum of Richmond Central will open its doors for an evening especially for children age 10 and under with special needs and their families. Enjoy all the museum has to offer and benefit from the availability of adapted materials, special activities, a cool-down space and reduced number of visitors. Children will have access and learning opportunities, but most importantly they’ll have fun.  Admission is Free.

Genomics and Health Disparities at the Science Museum of Virginia – Wednesday, February 8, 7 pm Don’t miss this panel discussion where experts look at issues including healthcare disparities and addressing inequalities.

Girls Night Out! This Innsbrook volunteer-based committee brings to you their annual, most popular, Girls’ Night Out!  Guests will enjoy a glass of wine and hors d’oeurves, while perusing through the various “female focused” vendor booths, or what we like to call boudoirs. Girls’ Night Out Package: From shoes to chocolate, good wine to a deep tissue massage … it all boils down to comfort and taste, and we’ve got it all!  See our list of vendor boudoirs below. Event Package includes hors d’oeurves, wine, and access to all GNO exclusive Boudoirs. Cost = $10 per lady and Proceeds from this event will benefit a local Innsbrook charity.

Valentine’s Kids Night Out! Romp n’ Roll is happy to announce a special Kids Night Out event for children from 2 years – 5 years of age which includes three hours of Romp n’ Roll fun, including the creation of a special Valentine’s art project!  Kids will also be treated to a pizza dinner and plenty of gym and music time.  This is the perfect opportunity to schedule a night out with your Valentine while knowing your child is having a blast at Romp n’ Roll.  Friday, February 10th from 5:30pm – 8:30pm – Richmond – West End.

Valentine’s Kids Night Out! CMoR’s Art Workshops are designed to help children of various ages and abilities and a participating parent explore different art techniques such as painting, sculpture, and printmaking. In each lesson, children learn about the work of a famous artist, and create their own work in that style! Children will be able to take home projects made in these workshops! Ages Art Workshops are designed for children ages 4-9 and an adult. Dates and Times: CMoR Central- Second Saturdays, 9:45-10:30.

Children’s Hospital Foundation’s 18th Annual Bowl-A-Thon and 5th Annual Battle of the Banks will offer families, businesses and other organizations a chance to have fun and raise money for local children. The Bowl-A-Thon is open to the public, and the Battle of the Banks is designed for employees in all areas of banking and their families.Teams will consist of five bowlers with one member serving as team captain. Team registration is $250 with additional fundraising encouraged.

Enjoy captivating performances by the Richmond Boys Choir as they showcase African culture and history through song at the Children’s Museum of Richmond.
