Autism Boot Camp Kicks Butt

Sharon Ruben is a hometown gal who is no stranger to challenges and fighting back.

At the age of 21 months, her middle daughter Ashley was diagnosed with autism. She was non-verbal, and non-social with a variety of sensory integration and auditory processing issues. Sharon was devastated and her world was shattered.

But she didn’t grieve for long as she became a force to be reckoned with and treated autism like any other problem that needed to be tackled and resolved. “I was going to find the solution. And I DID find it for Ashley. We re-trained her ears and brain to perceive sound better by taking her back to the time in the womb using modulated Mozart and my filtered voice – also known as auditory training. Ashley recovered at 4 years old and was removed from the autism spectrum, no longer showing any signs of a previous diagnosis. It was a long haul and days, months and years of re-educating her ears to ‘listen’. But I found Ashley’s missing puzzle piece. The only label Ashley wears now is the one in her clothes!” proudly explains Sharon.

She wrote about her recovery in her book: “Awakening Ashley: Mozart Knocks Autism on its Ear” — which has won high honors and praise from the publisher. She has also been on the Today Show with Katie Couric and Soap Talk with Lisa Rinna. “Awakening Ashley” is awakening the public now.

Sharon is giving back to others and offering them hope by putting on an Autism BOOT CAMP in Washington, D.C. April 20-21. This is also Autism Awareness month and the perfect time to give help and hope to other parents. “I am bringing together some of the BEST, BRIGHTEST and most CREATIVE experts in the field of autism all in one place so parents can listen to, learn from, and network with these professionals. Some of these experts were on my personal therapy team who helped recover Ashley a decade ago,” explains Sharon.

“I would like to create awareness for my Autism BOOT CAMP to help Richmond Moms who no doubt have children on the autism spectrum or with ADD/ADHD, dyslexia, speech delays, sensory issues and other developmental disabilities.”

You can learn more about the event on the website and learn about Sharon’s company and new listening therapy called ‘Lollipop Listening Therapy’ on this website link.
