Children With Cancer Need Books

As a mother and grandmother, I know how blessed I am to have healthy children and grandchildren. But everyone is not as fortunate.

A friend sent the following email this week. I am sharing this with those may be able to help.

“As many of you know, I have a sweet little 5 year old boy in our neighborhood named Dominic Beltran who has been fighting neuroblastoma since he was 17 months old. Many of you have prayed for him and done other things to help his family and for that so many are grateful.
He is still fighting the cancer and goes to Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital in New York for all of his treatments. When he is there his family they stay at the Ronald McDonald House. Many other children and families whose children have cancer and other illnesses stay there as well. The toys, books and other items to play with get used a lot.
Some of the children in our neighborhood, including my two young children, have decided to team up to collect 150 new books for the Ronald McDonald House in New York and give them as a gift in Dominic’s name. We are collecting the books (or if you would like to donate a gift card to purchase books) by March 19th. If you are local and want to drop them off, you can deliver them to 96 Carriage Hill Drive, Fredericksburg, VA 22405 or you can deliver them to me and I will make sure that they get to the appropriate person. I would be happy to pick them up from you if that is easier too! You can send a gift card or mail books to me if you wish at 139 Carriage Hill Dr., Fredericksburg, VA 22405.
I know that this book drive is going to brighten the day for many kids that come from many different places throughout the country to receive treatment from the physicians at Sloan Kettering and stay at the Ronald McDonald House there.
Thank for you helping the kids reach their goal or by just continuing the prayers for healing for Dominic. To follow Dominic’s story visit: www.caringbridge.org/visit/dominicb.”
Anything you can do to help is appreciated. March is National Reading Month and what better time to brighten a sick child’s life with book of wonder and excitement?
